Call for Nominations The 5th JSME Award, The 13th JSME Outstanding Research Award, The 5th JSME Young Scientist Award

The Japanese Society of Microbial Ecology (JSME), in accordance with Article 6 of the Supplementary Provisions of its Bylaws, confers the JSME Award, the JSME Outstanding Research Award, and the JSME Young Scientist Award.
The JSME Award is presented to a regular member who has achieved distinguished academic accomplishments in the field of microbial ecology, has made significant long-term contributions to the development and operation of the Society, and is expected to provide leadership toward the further advancement of the field of microbial ecology.
The JSME Outstanding Research Award corresponds to what is internationally recognized as a Young Scientist Award. Across the diverse academic fields covered by the JSME, this award is, in principle, presented to researchers who are between eight and eighteen years after obtaining their doctoral degree and who have published a body of academically outstanding research, have actively contributed to the activities of the Society as regular members, and are expected to make further significant contributions in the future.
In order to further encourage early-career researchers, the JSME Young Scientist Award was established in 2023. The selection criteria are the same as those for the JSME Achievement Award; however, eligibility is, in principle, limited to researchers within eight years of obtaining their doctoral degree. Through this two-tier award structure, JSME seeks to expand award opportunities for a broader range of early-career researchers, particularly those at an earlier stage following degree completion.
We now invite nominations for candidates for the 5th JSME Award, the 13th JSME Outstanding Research Award, and the 5th JSME Young Scientist Award, in accordance with the guidelines below. We welcome active nominations from many members. All applications will be carefully reviewed by the respective award selection committees, and a small number of award recipients will be selected for each award.
