Japanese Society of Microbial Ecology is comprised of researchers studying physiology, evolution, and ecology of microorganisms, as well as researchers from applied microbiology and environmental biology in various areas (agriculture, fisheries, medicine, engineering, science, etc.). We welcome the participation of persons interested in a major challenge of microbial ecology.

Method of Joining:
Fill in the joining / transfer / withdrawal application form (English), and sent it across to the following executive office of the society by e-mail or by FAX. You can also apply through the Membership information registration webpage.
Annual Membership Fees:

* Note that the international bank or postal transfer fee (5,000 Yen) is NOT included in membership fees. Please burden this at your expense.
* Since 2020, free distribution of the journal ”Microbes and Environmets” to society member is terminated. Accordingly, you can receive the booklet if you pay extra charge (5,000 Yen) with membership fee (request is optional).
JSME Membership Cancellation Policies:
Memberships are effective 1 April–31 March of each year.
Members may cancel their membership at any time for any reason. No refunds will be issued for cancelled memberships.
If you do not notify us of your withdrawal, your membership will be automatically renewed. A member who fails to pay the annual membership fee for two years or more shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the membership. If you wish to rejoin the JSME, you must pay the unpaid annual membership fee.
